Looking after established planting
Horticulture maintenance is the plant care side of what Gemzas does. General maintenance keeps the garden neat; this service keeps the plants themselves healthy and flowering well. That means pruning shrubs and climbers at the right point in their year, deadheading, cutting back perennials, dividing clumps that have become congested, feeding and mulching borders, and spotting pests or disease early.
Why timing matters
Prune a spring-flowering shrub in the wrong month and you cut off next year's flowers. Leave a border bare through a dry summer and the plants struggle. We plan the work around what is growing in your garden, so roses, hydrangeas and climbers each get the care they need when they need it.
Who it suits
It suits gardens with mature borders worth looking after, gardens where someone else did the planting and you want it kept as it is, and new beds that need careful attention for their first couple of years.
