Keeping flower beds clean

Weeds compete with your plants for water, light and food, and once they set seed they come back in force. Our weed control clears beds and borders properly, digging out perennial weeds like dandelions, docks and bindweed rather than snapping off the tops, then turning over the soil, re-cutting the lawn edges and tidying around each plant.

Mulch and regular visits

Once a bed is clean, a layer of bark or compost mulch helps keep new weeds down and holds moisture in the soil through summer. Beds stay clean with a visit every few weeks in the growing season. The before and after photos of a border on this page show the difference.

Pricing and what to send

Cost depends on the area of the beds, how thick the weeds are, and whether you want mulch laid. Send photos of the beds and a rough idea of their size. Where a bed has been lost completely, a garden clearance followed by new planting may be the better route.

How often do flower beds need weeding?
In spring and summer, every two to four weeks keeps most beds clean. Over winter growth slows and visits can be less frequent.
Will mulch stop weeds completely?
Not completely, but a good layer cuts them down a lot and makes the ones that appear easy to pull. It also helps the soil hold water.
Can you keep the plants I want and remove the rest?
Yes. Show us what you want kept and we will work around it. If you are unsure what is a weed and what is a plant, we can tell you.
