Plain advice on looking after them afterwards

What to send first

  • Plants or colours you like, or ones you want to avoid
  • Whether children or pets use the garden

Good fit when

  • A bed or border looks bare or tired
  • You have a new raised bed or planter to fill
  • You want plants that will thrive where they are put

Planting that suits your garden

Good planting begins with the conditions, not a shopping list. We look at how much sun each bed gets, whether the soil is heavy clay or free-draining, how exposed it is, and how you use the space. A border by the patio might want scent and colour all summer; a shady bed under trees needs plants that cope with dry shade; a family garden needs tough plants that will survive a football.

What we plant

We plant new beds and borders, fill raised planters, refresh tired areas with new perennials and shrubs, and add seasonal colour. We can put together a planting plan for a whole garden, as we did for one customer alongside a new irrigation system, or simply suggest a few plants to fill the gaps. The curved bed, raised bed and planting by the steps shown here are from our own jobs.

Advice you can use

Plenty of our customers are new to gardening. We explain what we have planted, how much water it needs in its first year and when to cut it back, so the planting survives once we have gone. If you would rather leave the care to us, horticulture maintenance keeps established planting healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to plant?
Autumn and spring suit most shrubs and perennials, because the soil is moist and warm enough for roots to establish. Summer planting works with careful watering.
Can you plant a garden that works for children and dogs?
Yes. We have created a garden designed to be child and dog friendly, with tough plants chosen to suit a busy family space.
I am a complete beginner. Can you help?
Yes. One customer who called themselves an extreme beginner said the team's knowledge was invaluable. We explain what to plant and why, in plain terms.
